Shipping Address Validator ("the app") is a Shopify app that checks shipping addresses on orders for deliverability and helps merchants catch or correct addresses that a carrier may not be able to deliver to. This policy explains what information the app processes, why, and how it can be removed.
The app processes the following information from orders and checkout:
Phone number is read at checkout only to preserve it unchanged when the app applies a corrected shipping address to an order. It is never stored or sent anywhere else.
To validate addresses, the app sends the shipping address (not the customer's name, email, or phone) to UPS's Address Validation API and, as a fallback, Google's Address Validation API.
We do not sell customer information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Validation records are kept for as long as the app is installed on a store, so merchants can review order history. When a customer requests their data be deleted, or a merchant uninstalls the app and the mandatory retention period passes, the app processes Shopify's standard privacy webhooks:
If you're a shopper and want to know what information a store's use of this app may have processed about you, or want it deleted, contact the store you placed the order with. Shopify requires the app to fulfill verified deletion requests routed through the merchant.
